Changes in Register of Deeds Office Related Statutes
Effective 10.01.2011 and 7.1.2012
- Session Law 2011-246(H312) ends the use of satisfaction by presentation of original instruments effective October 1, 2011. The following methods of cancellation remain unchanged: satisfaction of security instrument, the trustee’s satisfaction of a deed of trust, notice of satisfaction, and certificate of satisfaction.
- Session Law 2011-296(S384) simplifies the recording fee structure on deed, deeds of trust and mortgages effective October 1, 2011. Please see fee chart below for fee change description.
- G.S.161-22(h) makes significant changes in our indexing procedures effective July 1, 2012. These changes are substantially different from the indexing standards we have used since the 1990’s.
