Ashe County landfill accepts all types of materials except the following:
- Liquid waste, including paint and insecticides
- Hazardous Waste
- Toxic Waste
Disposal Tax – $150.00 per household per year, $62.00 per ton commercial, $52.00 per ton industrial
LCID $42.00 per ton commercial/industrial
Materials brought to the landfill must be sorted according to where they are to be placed. The categories and what can go in each are:
Solid Waste – All household, commercial, and industrial waste must be placed in subtitle D landfill.
LCID (Clean wood, dirt, brick, concrete, brush limbs, etc.)
White Goods/Metal no charge (Scrap metal, sheet metal, lawn mowers (must be free of gas and oil)
Major appliances – washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, dish washers, freezers, bicycles)
- Dead Stock/carcasses $15.00 per stock (Accepts all animals, including cows, goats, horses, etc.)
- Tires – no charge
Tires can be accepted with the rims in them; they must be neatly stacked in the trailer provided for their disposal.
North Carolina State law requires that you tarp your load while in transport to Disposal Facility.
Enforcement Penalty:
Disposing of recyclable materials co-mingled with contents that amount to 25% or more by weight or volume will be charged according to the following schedule.
- First offence: written warning
- Second offence: Tipping fee of twice the current rate
- Subsequent offenses: Three times the current tipping fee.
