The Ashe County Building and Inspections Department is in the field assessing identified damaged structures. One of three Placards will be placed on the assessed structure – INSPECTED, RESTRICTED USE, or UNSAFE. Should you see a green “Inspected” placard, the structure allows lawful occupancy. Should you see a yellow “Restricted Use” placard, there are damages causing concern and the inspector will indicate any restricted use of the structure. Should you see a red “Unsafe” placard, occupancy and/oruse is prohibited as annotated in the notes left by the inspector as the structure is deemed to be unsafe and entry may be assumed at own risk.
Please remember that damaged structures should be permitted as usual. Fees are currently being waived for damaged structures. Please do not remove, alter, or cover the placard until authorized by Governing Authority. If you have questions, please call 336-846-5511.
